What has happened?
The Land and Environment Court continues to develop updated policies and arrangements during the COVID-19 pandemic and now foreshadows a staged return to face to face hearings, conciliation conferences and mediation.
On 1 July 2020, the Court issued a policy to provide guidance on court attendances during COVID-19 times, replacing an earlier March policy. It applies to all attendances at the Land and Environment Court and deals with:
Filing documents
Making applications to the Court
Staged return to face to face attendances
Attending the Land and Environment Court building, including the Registry
Site inspections for section 34 conferences and hearings
Tree Disputes
Mediations
Directions hearings and lists
Delivery of judgments
Regional matters
The first stage is intended to allow in-court and on-site hearings, including those in regional areas. Great news for both our Sydney and Coffs Harbour offices.
