Update on Land and Environment Court Pandemic Arrangements

What has happened?

The Land and Environment Court continues to develop updated policies and arrangements during the COVID-19 pandemic and now foreshadows a staged return to face to face hearings, conciliation conferences and mediation.

On 1 July 2020, the Court issued a policy to provide guidance on court attendances during COVID-19 times, replacing an earlier March policy. It applies to all attendances at the Land and Environment Court and deals with:

  • Filing documents

  • Making applications to the Court

  • Staged return to face to face attendances

  • Attending the Land and Environment Court building, including the Registry

  • Site inspections for section 34 conferences and hearings

  • Tree Disputes

  • Mediations

  • Directions hearings and lists

  • Delivery of judgments

  • Regional matters

The first stage is intended to allow in-court and on-site hearings, including those in regional areas. Great news for both our Sydney and Coffs Harbour offices.
