Sydney Metro West: Proposed compulsory acquisition of properties to construct the project

What has happened?

In October 2019, the NSW State Government announced that the construction of the Sydney Metro West project will commence in early 2020. The Metro West is the third stage of the city’s metro rail network.

The Sydney Metro West aims to connect the Sydney CBD to Greater Parramatta with a fast and reliable metro rail.

Seven new metro stations will be constructed at Westmead, Parramatta, Sydney Olympic Park, North Strathfield, Burwood North, Five Dock and The Bays Precinct. The NSW Government is also assessing the potential for additional stations in the Sydney CBD, Rydalmere and Pyrmont.

Implications

The state government will acquire approximately 93 businesses and 23 residential properties to build the project.

If your business or residential property is affected by the Sydney Metro West project, you should seek legal advice.
